KCA Students' Handbell Performance Reaches National Audience

In Mme. Caron's grade 5 French Immersion class at Kings County Academy, playing handbells has become a tradition over the years. Students in her class not only learn to play handbells when studying music, but also earn extra time to play and practice the handbells when they've worked hard to meet goals in other subject areas.

The students have shared their musical skills at school assemblies and concerts, and have performed for residents at local senior citizens' care facilities. Recently, they took their performance to a national audience through the CBC Canadian Music Class Challenge, performing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", arranged for handbells by music teacher Ms. Rhodenizer.

Congratulations to the students, Mme. Caron and Ms. Rhodenizer for all the hard work, practice and dedication that went into this project. Check out their outstanding and beautiful performance at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HuVGt6Y64M
