Over 100 Student Scientists Compete at Regional Science Fair

This year’s Annapolis Valley Regional Science Fair featured over 100 projects from students in grades P-12 covering a wide range of research into science, engineering and technology topics. This year's event also also included a Family Science Night where students could share their projects with guests, and everyone had the chance to enjoy interactive demonstrations with Mad Science.

Projects by students in grades 4 to 12 are eligible for awards, which were presented at a ceremony on April 4. A complete list of award and scholarship recipients is available at https://sites.google.com/gnspes.ca/avrsf/awards.

Four students were selected to represent the Annapolis Valley at the Canada Wide Science Fair. Daniel Duke and Matthew Barbour (KCA), Jack Pemberton (WHMS) and Lucas Hilden (WHMS) will be among the top 500 young students from across Canada participating in the Canada Wide Science Fair at the University of New Brunswick in May.

Congratulations to Lucas, Jack, Matthew and Daniel, and to all student scientists who participated in this year’s Annapolis Valley Regional Science Fair.

Special thanks to organizers Christine Bigelow Popowich, Caitlin Mitchell and Rob Davies for their leadership in organizing the regional science fair. Thanks as well to volunteers, sponsors and judges who make this exciting and worthwhile learning opportunity possible for students.
